Recently the Tourism Board of Tasmania, TBT for short, ran a tourism campaign alongside cult-classic videogame Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue. Little thought or interest was shown toward the game apart from the fact that the
word Tasmania was put into it which did not help with the massive influx of tourists to the state. Tourists have been up in arms for the misleading tourism campaigns promise that, “Everything in the game can be found down under in
good ol Tassie.”
The campaign promise has since been removed from social media in an attempt to cover up the embarrassment. It hasn’t stopped tourists complaining online about the fact that they looked all over Tasmania and could not find Mt Boom. Tourist Information Centres have been inundated with what they thought were idiotic tourists that just wanted to know how to get to the Big Shrimp and if there were many sharks at Wobbygon Bay this time of year. Little to no answer has been given by the TBT as to why they ran such a stupid
campaign, it may have been trying to ride the hype train of the Ty games in order to get more tourists to this great land.
